Research Management The following responsibilities relate specifically to the research function of this role. The post-holder will be the lead for all research activity across Bourne Health and will be expected to work with autonomy and expertise in this area. Research Delivery & Coordination Take overall responsibility for the sourcing, management, coordination and facilitation of all concurrent research studies across Bourne Health sites. Work in liaison with GP Leads and multidisciplinary clinical teams to support the delivery of research within a primary care setting. Ensure that research studies are conducted in full compliance with ICH-GCP, the Research Governance Framework, relevant legislation and all applicable practice protocols and policies. Maintain accurate and auditable documentation across all research documents and patient records, including data collection forms, case report forms and site files. Report any deviations from study protocols to the GP research lead and implement any agreed changes to the care or study programme promptly. Assist and advise clinical and non-clinical staff in the delivery of care to study participants. Effective communication with relevant team members across the practices to ensure awareness and understanding of the various studies and trials being conducted. Prepare practices for NIHR RDN or other related external audits and monitoring visit. Patient Recruitment & Consent Identify patients eligible for research projects using clinical system searches and liaise with clinical teams to support recruitment into clinical trials and studies. Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that patients are enabled to make genuinely informed choices about participation in research, and that all advice and information provided is accurate, accessible and appropriately documented. Ensure that written informed consent is obtained from all research participants prior to any treatment, data collection or sample taking in connection with a study. Support practice teams with communications materials in the practice, on the website and via electronic communications to promote research activity to patients and staff. Target recruitment strategies to reflect local demographics and promote inclusive participation (PPIE). External Relationships & Business Development Serve as the first point of contact both internally and externally for all research-related relationships. Proactively manage and develop relationships with NIHR, Research Delivery Networks (RDNs), RCGP Research Ready, site management organisations (SMOs), Clinical / Contract Research Organisations (CROs), pharma and life sciences organisations, universities and commercial research organisations. During periods of reduced research activity, actively seek out new and appropriate research opportunities for Bourne Health in alignment with the organisation's strategic priorities and values. Actively promote research participation amongst clinicians, service users, carers and the wider NHS community. Financial & Administrative Oversight Maintain a well-organised and auditable record of all income and expenditure related to research activity, including time spent by clinical and non-clinical staff on research tasks. Maintain a strong record of all research activity with weekly reporting to the Principal Investigator and monthly reporting the Bourne Health Board. Use project management tools / principles and methods to maintain up-to-date status records for all active and pipeline research studies. Training & Development Coordinate and deliver research training for clinical and non-clinical staff, including the use of MS Teams where appropriate. Ensure all staff involved in research delivery are appropriately trained and that training records are maintained. Performance Management The following responsibilities relate specifically to the performance management function of this role. The post-holder will support Bourne Health's sites in achieving and sustaining high standards of clinical quality and performance, with a particular focus on data-driven improvement. Performance Monitoring & Reporting Monitor, analyse and report on performance across all Bourne Health sites, covering QOF, Local Enhanced Services (LES), KPIs and other organisational priorities as agreed with the Director of Operations and/or CEO. Prepare and publish regular performance packs and dashboards for agreed audiences, including the Bourne Health Board. Produce league tables, graphs and data summaries to support practice-level and organisational performance conversations. Carry out / collate weekly audits of workflow and performance activity across all sites. Validate and submit ImmForm data during the flu season for all Bourne Health practices. Review CQRS achievement data for practices as required and work with relevant teams under the direction of the Director of Operations, performing hands-on support if required (e.g. recalling). Clinical System Management & Coding Use EMIS Web to design, build and maintain searches, templates and protocols to support clinical effectiveness and performance improvement. Carry out central batch coding activities to improve consistency and accuracy of clinical data across the organisation. Undertake regular housekeeping searches across all agreed priority areas, ensuring patient records are accurately coded and maintained. Support practices with data queries, search design and coding or template amendments. Identify patients with incorrect coding or diagnoses and work with practice teams to ensure records are corrected. QOF & Enhanced Services Support Support practice teams with QOF monitoring and recall activities, working to minimise exception reporting across all sites. Support practices with Local Enhanced Services (LES) monitoring, recall activities and submissions, ensuring all are completed within agreed timelines. Assist practices and managers with KPI submissions to ICBs. Capacity Building & Staff Support Act as a resource to practice managers and clinical teams, supporting approaches to data management, search design and performance improvement. Assist in the delivery of training sessions for managers and staff to support improved KPI performance. Assist with the identification and response to CQC areas of concern relevant to performance and data quality. General Responsibilities Communication & Teamwork Communicate clearly, professionally and compassionately with team members, colleagues, patients and external stakeholders at all levels. Work closely with the wider Bourne Health team to support shared objectives, facilitate learning and help resolve emerging challenges. Attend relevant internal and external meetings, adhering to deadlines and contributing constructively to team and organisational objectives. Act as a key member of the senior management team and maintain strong working relationships with managers and clinical leads. Conduct & Compliance Adhere to all policies, protocols and procedures as set out in the Staff Handbook and contract of employment. Ensure full compliance with Bourne Health's confidentiality, data protection and information governance policies, reporting any breaches immediately to the line manager. Support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues in line with the Equality Act 2010 and organisational policy. Assist in promoting and maintaining health, safety and security across the workplace in accordance with Bourne Health's Health & Safety Policy. Professional Development Participate fully in annual appraisal, mandatory training and continuing professional development. Maintain a proactive and positive approach to learning, embracing new technologies, systems and working practices as they are introduced.
