Brightwork’s specialist client is currently recruiting a Regional HSE Manager who will lead HSE performance across the northern region.

This multi‑site role is critical to ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across geographically dispersed operations. Working as an integral member of the Compliance Department, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management, mentoring and coaching of employees in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, where you will monitor safety performance, lead investigations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

Deliver the SHEQ Strategy and site-level action plans in line with the compliance roadmap, 5-year plan and annual objectives.

Compile health safety and environment data to keep the business informed of performance against agreed KPIs.

Lead the ongoing update, management and assurance of the Top Tier COMAH Safety Report, ensuring Major Accident Hazards (MAHs) are fully understood and controlled.

Maintain strong working relationships with HSE, SEPA, Environmental Health, Fire Authorities and other regulators.

Lead and support investigations into accidents, near misses and external complaints, ensuring containment and corrective actions are implemented and monitored.

Conduct monthly internal audits and targeted inspections based on safety observations and statistics and ensure actions are regularly reviewed through to completion.

Experience & Qualifications - ESSENTIAL

Strong previous experience within Top Tier COMAH‑regulated environments.

Demonstrable experience managing HSE across multiple operational sites.

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent; NEBOSH Process Safety.

Proven track record in coaching, performance monitoring and incident investigation.

Strong understanding of MoC, PTW, hazardous energy control.

Full UK driving license and own vehicle (regular travel required).

Strong IT skills, including Excel (advanced), Word, PowerPoint; familiarity with maintenance management systems.
