Applicants are invited to apply for both Permanent and Fixed term post for an FY2-ST2 Outliers post in Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. It is envisaged this post would be suitable for a doctor who has completed foundation training or has 1-2 years of postgraduate experience as a doctor and would like the experience within general medicine in a busy acute medical hospital.

This is an exceptional opportunity for doctors with a mix of on-call and ward based work.

Milton Keynes University Hospital is the major teaching hospital for Buckingham University medical school. Recently Buckingham University built a state-of-the-art academic centre on the Milton Keynes University Hospital site.

We are a variety of posts available, both fixed term and permanent. You are welcome to express a preference, but the contract type the successful candidates are offered will be determined after interview

The job will involve:



· Provide day-to-day medical care for outlier patients under the supervision of registrars and consultants.

· Clerk and assess new admissions, initiating appropriate investigations and management.

· Review existing patients, update management plans, and escalate concerns where appropriate.

· Prescribe medications, fluids, and therapies safely and effectively. Respond to ward-based referrals, including the assessment of acutely unwell patients.

· Liaise with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and specialty teams to ensure safe and effective care.

· Complete clear and accurate documentation in patient records.

· Support patient flow by preparing discharge summaries and arranging follow-up plans.

· Yearly Appraisal with a nominated consultant and access to appraisal software.

· A Clinical / Educational Supervisor for career development

· Access to eportfolio to record competencies and document clinical experience.

· Opportunity to work on the hospital bank to earn extra money doing extra shifts additional to contract if desired.

ThisLASFY2 - ST1-2 post offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience in general medicine while providing day-to-day care for medical outlier patients across a variety of wards at MKUH. Under the supervision of registrars and consultants, you will be involved in clerking new admissions, reviewing ongoing patients, prescribing, responding to ward referrals, and supporting safe discharge planning. The role provides wide clinical exposure, close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and valuable skills in delivering safe, patient-centred care across different ward environments
