To perform imaging, in line with governmental and departmental protocols, working both alone and within radiology and multidisciplinary teams. To check patient identification and documentation, and ensure the appropriate radiographic examinations are carried out in accordance with departmental protocols and clinical requests, especially implementing departmental safety protocols. To evaluate scanned images taken for diagnostic quality, and alert clinicians of any abnormality when appropriate. Ensure patient safety, comfort and dignity throughout all imaging procedures. Vet plain film imaging requests to ensure clinical appropriateness and avoid delays to patient pathways. To participate in the departmental Quality Assurance programme to ensure the efficient operation of the highly technical equipment, and to ensure compliance with best practice especially with reference to minimising radiation exposures within X-ray and Dexa. To be familiar with, understand and apply the principles of Radiation Safety, both nationally and locally regulated or protocol led. To give theoretical instruction, practical guidance, and supervision to less experienced staff, Student Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and trainees. To assist with the practical experience of newly inducted staff. To participate in imaging risk management and quality/audit programme and to undertake duties commensurate towards achievement of ISAS accreditation. Report all incidents, to include all radiation and other incidents in accordance with the Trust DATIX procedures and local operating policies and procedures. To participate in the full shift system including nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays in line with the departmental agreement, to support full service delivery.
