Job Title: Personal Assistant for 8-Year-Old with Additional Needs
Location: Redruth area, Cornwall
Hours: 1–2 hours per week (increasing during school holidays)
Pay: £12.60 per hour plus mileage
Contract Type: Part-time / Flexible hours
About the Role: We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Personal Assistant to support an active 8-year-old boy with additional needs with lots of energy who loves swimming and being outdoors.
The role involves supporting him to access social opportunities, develop life skills and enjoy meaningful time in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting the child to access local swimming sessions and outdoor activities
• Encouraging the development of social and life skills through play and community involvement
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child and family
• Providing transport to and from agreed activities
About You:
• Kind, patient and confident working 1:1 with children with additional needs
• Energetic and proactive, with a passion for helping children thrive
• Must hold a full and valid UK driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle
• Previous experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable but not essential
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
