Crynodeb
Main Purpose: To prepare and cook meals for the residents and to ensure that the kitchen is maintained to the highest standard.
Reporting to: Responsible to the Senior Carer/Manager
Responsibilities
• To prepare and cook lunchtime meals, ensuring that wholesome, nourishing food to the taste of the service users is prepared. To prepare breakfast and prep for evening meals as required.
• To devise a menu offering a varied choice and diet.
• To make cakes and pastries as required.
• To maintain records of the food that is prepared.
• To be aware of the training opportunities available to you and make application as appropriate, basing your claim on the benefits to the care of the Service Users and the enhanced operation of the home.
• To work according to the Food Handling and Hygiene and other regulations.
• To ensure that the kitchen and its equipment are maintained in a meticulously clean condition and written records are kept.
• To comply with the Health and Safety Regulations at all times and to take all necessary precautions to avoid accidents or injury to self, staff, Service Users and visitors.
• To comply with Glanmorfa’s strict no lifting policy and adhere to the homes manual handling procedures.
• To be aware of the procedure to be taken should an emergency arise.
• To check and report any malfunctions in the equipment or fabric of the building during your shift.
• To ensure that the care manager is aware of provisions required.
• To ensure that service users, their families and friends are treated with courtesy and respect.
• To ensure that you understand your duties and seek clarification from the care manager or proprietors.
• To maintain confidentiality at all times.
• To attend staff meetings as required and to make an input into procedure development.
• All personnel are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, to maintain confidentiality, be loyal to and uphold the good name of the home.
