Salary: £35,048 per annum

About the Opportunity
P4 Recruitment is currently working with a well-established and highly regarded children's residential care provider to recruit a Senior Residential Childcare Worker for a home based in Coylton, South Ayrshire.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in a safe, nurturing residential environment where every interaction makes a difference. As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a key role in helping young people feel secure, valued, and supported as they grow and develop.
From supporting daily routines to celebrating small achievements, your work will help build confidence, trust, and brighter futures.
Key Responsibilities
Support young people with their daily routines, including preparing for school, meal times, and activities
Supervise and mentor a team of Residential Support Workers
Ensure the highest standards of care and support are maintained
Provide updates and reports to the home management team
Monitor care plans and contribute to care planning documentation
Promote an individualised approach to care for each young person
Create a warm and welcoming home environment, including light household duties
Build meaningful relationships and provide emotional support
Organise and participate in activities such as trips, games, movie nights, and creative projects
Maintain accurate records using electronic care recording systems (training provided if required)

The service is located in a peaceful rural setting in Coylton, South Ayrshire, close to the coastal towns of Ayr and Prestwick. The home provides a supportive and stable environment where young people are encouraged to develop positive relationships, build confidence, and prepare for their future.
The team prides itself on creating a genuine “home from home” atmosphere where young people receive encouragement, understanding, and consistent support.
About You
We are looking for passionate individuals who genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of young people.
You will ideally have:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar children's residential care role
SVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People (or equivalent)
Willingness to work towards SVQ Level 4
Working knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, including National Care Standards and safeguarding requirements
Experience supporting or mentoring team members
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Flexibility to cover shifts when required
A full UK driving licence
