Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Fetal Medicine Unit at Royal London Hospital, to support the team in their provision of woman centred care.

We are looking for a calm, flexible and efficient Maternity Care Assistant who can understand the needs of patients and visitors and whose priority is to deliver high quality patient care. You should also be able to communicate clearly and be keen to learn within the scope of this role and it is essential that applicants have the basic level of competency identified in the personal specification.

Please note: When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High Cost Area Supplement) is not included for non-medical roles. This ensures fairness and consistency within our organisation, as some of our sites fall under inner HCAS, while others are classified as outer HCAS.

We are a busy maternity unit looking for positive, enthusiastic and motivated Maternity Support Worker (MSW) to join our maternity services team. Under the direction of the Registered Midwife you will work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to provide the highest standards of patient care within maternity services. The MSW may be required to assist in any clinical area within the Maternity Department in response to service demand.



The successful post holder will care for mothers and babies, primarily in the Fetal Medicine Unit.Fetal medicine is the speciality that encompasses extra care required for babies in the womb, such as for smaller babies or babies with other complications. The FMU accepts referrals from across the maternity unit and region-wide, as a tertiary centre. Our aim is to provide holistic, family centred care to all women who attend the Fetal Medicine Unit. Patients in the FMU often have to face difficult decisions about their pregnancy, and need support, compassion, and non-judgmental care to navigate their pregnancies. The post holder would be expected to support patients within the FMU, primarily with checking in of patients, phlebotomy, routine observations, and stocking of equipment trolleys and rooms.In addition you will be required to maintain accurate, legible and contemporaneous records and communicate with all in a courteous and helpful way.

Previous experience of working in the NHS or equivalent care background is required.
