Chief Technology Officer- Tech- Compensation is Equity-Based Initially-London/ Hybrid

The Role

Are you an experienced technologist who has taken a B2B SaaS product from concept to real users? Do you enjoy solving complex technical challenges while helping build a company from the ground up? If so, this opportunity could be the chance to shape both a product and a business from the earliest stages.

We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer to join TrueGreenESG as a co-founder and senior leader. You will work closely with the CEO to bring the platform to pilot launch and then scale it into a widely used compliance solution.

This is a hands-on role where you will guide the technology strategy while also building and improving the product itself. As Chief Technology Officer, you will oversee architecture, AI development, infrastructure and security, while helping shape the engineering culture of the company.

You will also take part in discussions with early design partners, customers and investors. This role suits someone who enjoys building technology, being part of wider business conversations and stepping into the ambiguity of a start-up.

Full-time is preferred, though part-time may be considered for the right candidate.

If the idea of building a company while shaping the future of compliance technology sounds exciting, submit your application and answers to the short questions to begin the conversation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bring the existing backend to pilot-ready stage and support the public launch
• Build the marketplace layer connecting companies with ESG solution providers
• Lead the move towards self-hosted, fine-tuned AI models
• Maintain audit-ready reporting aligned with EU and UK regulatory changes
• Extend the carbon-negative, EU-sovereign infrastructure as the platform grows
• Support the roadmap towards future certifications such as ISO 27001
• Grow and lead the engineering team as the company scales
• Join discussions with early customers, investors and design partners

The Company

TrueGreenESG is building compliance infrastructure designed for mid-market companies across the EU and UK.

Many organisations now face complex requirements such as CSRD, SDR and SFDR reporting, yet the cost of advisory services can reach hundreds of thousands of pounds. Our platform provides regulatory-grade compliance intelligence and audit-ready reporting at SaaS pricing.

The company was founded by a climate law researcher from King’s College London and is supported by the King’s College London Accelerator Programme. A significant part of the backend platform is already built, and we are preparing for our Q2 2026 pilot.

TrueGreenESG’s infrastructure is a values statement as much as a technical one. We are carbon-negative, EU-sovereign, and free from Big Tech dependencies – not as marketing but as a genuine commitment to practicing what we help others achieve.

We are looking for someone who shares the thinking behind them and is excited to extend them.

The Benefits

• Co-founder position with meaningful equity (discussed openly and early)
• Opportunity to shape the company’s technical direction
• Hybrid working in London
• Chance to build a platform tackling real regulatory challenges
• Work with values-led infrastructure including carbon-negative hosting and EU-sovereign data

Salary will be introduced once the business reaches sustainable revenue.

The Person

We are looking for someone who enjoys building and improving real products while helping shape a growing company.

You do not need a background in ESG or sustainability. You do need to care about environmental protection, good governance, and equity – and you find the intersection of law, regulation, and technology genuinely interesting. You believe that businesses acting ethically and business saving money are not opposing goals.

You may be a great fit if you have:

• Experience shipping B2B SaaS products
• Strong backend architecture and API design skills
• Experience working with AI or LLM integrations in production
• Clear communication skills when working with both technical and non-technical teams
• Interest in how regulation and technology shape modern businesses

Experience with open-source AI, GDPR-focused architecture or marketplace platforms would be helpful but is not essential.
