Millfield School is seeking an experienced and forward thinking Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a key role supporting the Finance Manager and Head of Finance in delivering high quality financial management across Millfield and its subsidiaries.

The Role
As our Management Accountant, you will play a central part in ensuring robust financial reporting, insightful analysis, and effective financial controls. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
• Producing timely and accurate monthly and termly management accounts and supporting all month end close procedures.
• Providing insightful financial commentary, identifying trends, variances, and key performance indicators.
• Contributing to the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting internal and external audit processes.
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and scenario planning to support strategic decision making.
• Delivering a finance business partnering service to budget holders, helping them understand and manage their financial performance.
• Supporting VAT management and compliance across the group.
• Contributing to systems development, process improvement, and the implementation of new financial tools and procedures.

About You
We are looking for a proactive, analytical and collaborative qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with:
• Significant experience in management accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Strong technical skills, including advanced Excel capability.
• Experience of statutory accounts and VAT compliance (group VAT advantageous).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non financial colleagues.
• A solutions focused mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience in the education or charity sector is desirable but not essential.

Working Hours & Salary:
This is a year round, office-based role working Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5pm, with a salary of £50,000–£55,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus a wide range of staff benefits.
