Are you looking to start your career in data protection, information rights and public‑sector compliance? This is an exciting opportunity to join our Information Governance Team as an apprentice and gain hands‑on experience while supporting the Council to meet its legal duties around information management.

About the role
In this role, you’ll support the Senior Information Governance Officer and wider team with a range of important responsibilities, including:
Supporting monitoring of the Council’s compliance with UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act and related legislation.
Helping raise awareness of good information handling practices across the organisation.
Providing first line support to officers and external agencies on information governance queries.
Assisting with the preparation and management of data for statutory information requests.
Working to statutory and service driven deadlines in a fast paced environment.
About you
This apprenticeship is perfect for someone looking to begin a career in information governance, compliance or data protection. We’re looking for someone who can bring:
Education to A Level standard (or equivalent).
Strong attention to detail and the ability to process information accurately.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Good general IT skills.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work well in a small team.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn from others.
A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive service delivery.
No previous experience is required — just enthusiasm and the drive to learn and grow within the team.
