We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Ground Maintenance Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.50 - £16.16 per hour

Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Operative is responsible for maintaining council-owned green spaces, parks, housing estates, and public areas to a high standard. The role involves carrying out a variety of horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks to ensure outdoor areas are safe, clean, and visually presentable for residents and visitors.

Responsibilities:

Carry out routine grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and pruning.
Maintain parks, open spaces, and housing estates to agreed standards.
Undertake planting, weeding, watering, and general horticultural tasks.
Collect and remove green waste and litter from designated areas.
Use and maintain gardening tools and powered equipment safely and effectively.
Inspect outdoor areas and report any hazards, damage, or maintenance issues.

Essentials:

Basic knowledge of gardening techniques and plant care
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Experience using grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters.
Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
