Are you passionate about neurodiversity and mental health? Join a supportive secondary team as an SEN Teaching Assistant and turn "small wins" into life-changing progress.

Why This is the Most Rewarding Role in Education

This isn't just a classroom job; it's a role for a mentor, a steady hand, and an advocate. We are looking for empathetic individuals to support students with Additional Needs (SEND), including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

  • Impact-Driven Work: See the direct result of your patience as you help a student overcome barriers to learning and social interaction.
  • Specialised Career Growth: Access elite 2026 CPD training, including Team-Teach, Autism Awareness, and De-escalation Strategies-perfect for aspiring Educational Psychologists or Speech Therapists.
  • Stability & Routine: These roles are primarily long-term, allowing you to build deep, meaningful bonds with your students.
  • Reliable Weekly Pay: Competitive daily rates of £90 - £100, paid every Friday via Randstad.

Your Role as a 1:1 Specialist

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you are the bridge between the curriculum and the student's unique way of learning.

  • Personalised Support: Work 1:1 to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets using sensory breaks, visual timetables, and simplified tasks.
  • Emotional Coaching: Assist students in developing self-regulation skills and social confidence in a mainstream or resource-base setting.
  • Collaborative Reporting: Work closely with the SENCO, parents, and external therapists to track progress and adjust support strategies.
  • Inclusion Advocacy: Ensure every student, regardless of their needs, feels safe, valued, and included in school life.

What We Are Looking For

We value character, patience, and empathy above all else. You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have a "Person-First" Mindset: You look past the behaviour to understand the communication behind it.
  • Are Resilient & Calm: You can navigate challenging moments with professional composure and a de-escalating approach.
  • Have Relevant Experience: Whether from a school, care, youth work, or personal background (lived experience with SEND is highly valued).
  • Are Committed: You hold an enhanced DBS (or are willing to apply) and are 100% dedicated to Safeguarding and pupil welfare.
