We are seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil for a fixed-term period of one year. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and an understanding of the needs of looked-after children.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to provide structured, supportive learning that enables the pupil to achieve success both academically and emotionally.
The role requires someone who:
- Has significant experience supporting pupils with SEND.
- Understands the needs and challenges faced by looked-after children.
- Is calm, patient, and resilient in the face of challenge.
- Can organise learning so the pupil works for a period of time followed by appropriate sensory breaks.
- Can provide clear boundaries and consistent expectations, using a balanced approach of support and firmness.
- Is able to support the pupil while promoting independence acting like an “elastic band”: checking in regularly without becoming overly attached or constantly present.
We are looking for someone who:
- Builds positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Is proactive, organised, and able to adapt strategies to support learning and wellbeing.
- Works effectively as part of a team.
In return, we offer:
- A supportive school environment.
- Opportunities to work closely with experienced staff.
- The chance to make a meaningful difference to a child’s educational journey.
If you are passionate about supporting children to succeed and have the experience and resilience required for this important role, we would love to hear from you.
