Your role

This role sits within the Prevention and Protection team and provides practical, daytoday business support to help the service run effectively. You’ll be supporting managers and colleagues with a range of administrative, coordination and information tasks, contributing to work that supports community safety across Greater Manchester.

The role is officebased for the majority of the time, working from Fire HQ in Swinton, with opportunities to travel occasionally to other fire stations across Greater Manchester to support activity, meetings or training. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team and work closely with a wide range of internal colleagues and external partners.

Your work will include supporting reporting and performance activity, responding to enquiries, coordinating training and engagement activity, and helping to ensure information is accurate, up to date and handled appropriately. The role requires organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing tasks, while working to agreed processes and timescales.

About you

You’re someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable working in a busy office environment. You take a practical approach to your work and understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and good recordkeeping.

You communicate clearly and respectfully, whether dealing with colleagues, partners or members of the public, and you’re able to build effective working relationships. You’re comfortable using a range of digital systems and applications and are willing to learn new tools where needed. You can manage your own workload, know when to ask for support and understand when issues need to be escalated.

We’re looking for someone who values fairness, inclusion and teamwork, and who treats people with dignity and respect. You don’t need to come with experience of every aspect of the role what matters is a willingness to learn, a positive attitude and a commitment to providing a good standard of service.

If you’re looking for a stable, officebased role with some variety and the chance to contribute to public service, this could be a good fit.
