Crynodeb
On call: 1 in 8 at Urology Registrar level, covering Worthing and Chichester Hospitals for urology. Acute Registrar of the Week: With these expansion posts were introducing a rota of 1:4 weeks where all elective clinical activity will be cancelled, allowing prompt access to CEPOD, A+E etc. Clinical duties: Day time work will include a mixture of clinic and diagnostic investigations, manging the in-patient work with the support of the junior staff and a minimum of 2 supervised theatre lists a week. The successful applicant will be part of the team and involved in managing the in-patient work load. Teaching: There are weekly meetings which is attended by all departmental staff, rotating between clinical governance, business, journal and interesting cases There are regular weekly postgraduate meetings. The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Surgeons and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. Research: The Urology Department is very research active, and the successful candidate would be encouraged to participate. Administrative: The Trust Doctor will have responsibilities towards maintaining good documentation, prompt discharge communications and planning work. The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with their colleagues, both senior and junior. While it has been agreed between the professions that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptions and you should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
