Crynodeb
The hospital liaison team is based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, (DRI) Doncaster. The team has been operational since 2020, prior to this, services have been covered by the Crisis team.
The Team provides 7 day a week, emergency, hospital-based mental health assessments for service users who have presented to A&E or have been admitted to the medical wards. The team provides short-term, time-limited input, and has a liaison role.
Hospital Liaison’s caseload on average is around 25 patients, at any given time, including older age patients. Referrals mainly come through DRI. The consultant directly reviews on average 2-3 patients per day and can go up to 10 per week. Occasionally a review is required from Mexborough/Montague patients (one a week); but this very rarely require a face-to-face review.
This is a full-time post (10PAs). The post-holder will have responsibility for an all-age hospital liaison service.
· Direct Clinical Care 7.5 PAs on average per week
(Includes clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable and unpredictable emergency work)
· Supporting Professional Activities 2.5 PAs on average per week
(Includes CPD, audit, teaching and research)
The Trust strongly supports Consultant Psychiatrist career development with opportunities in clinical, management and research domains, supported through 2.5 sessions of Supporting Programmed Activities each week within the Job Plan, and 10 days of individual Study Leave each year, and a generous annual study leave budget for each Consultant Psychiatrist of £1,750.00.
