Your new School
You will be joining a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) specialist school that provides a safe, structured and nurturing environment for young people who have struggled in mainstream education. The school supports learners through a highly personalised curriculum, strong pastoral care and a trauma informed approach.
As a key member of the team, you will help KS4 and Post‑16 students build confidence, develop life skills and progress towards positive next steps in education, training or employment.
Your new role
As a full time Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 14-18 both in and out of the classroom.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for learners with SEMH needs.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across KS4 and Post‑16.
  • Building trusted, positive relationships to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Supporting behaviour plans and contributing to a calm, consistent school environment.
  • Working closely with pastoral and SEN teams to meet students' holistic needs.
  • Driving school vehicles to take learners to their work experience placements when required.
  • Supporting enrichment activities, life skills sessions and personal development programmes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with SEN or SEMH students-ideally within a school or alternative provision.
  • A patient, resilient and trauma informed approach.
  • Strong behaviour support skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Confidence building rapport with young people who may have complex needs.
  • Flexibility, initiative and a genuine commitment to student wellbeing.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A full, clean driving licence and confidence driving school vehicles.
