Job description:
Allstaff Engineering Division are delighted to bring to the market the role of Maintenance Technician based East Kilbride.
Candidates are required to have an SVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship in the requisite discipline and an HNC in Mechanical or Electrical engineering. These are non-negotiable.
Shift: Flexi Annualised Hours. . 4 days 06:00-18:00, 4 off, 4 days 18:00-06:00, repeat. Candidates must be able to do dayshift and nightshift.
Key Competencies
• Work within a high-volume FMCG manufacturing environment, supporting production to ensure maximum equipment uptime and performance.
• Carry out electrical maintenance and fault finding, including working with PLC systems (ideally Siemens or Allen Bradley) and associated control equipment.
• Support the continued development of automation capability within the plant as the role becomes increasingly automation focused.
• Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment, including blow moulding and bottle handling machinery where applicable.
• Work on equipment such as SIDEL and KHS machinery where experience is available, or demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and support these systems.
• Follow structured engineering maintenance routines to ensure reliability and consistent production performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at driving operational performance.
• Participate in Short Interval Control (SIC) processes to monitor performance and address issues quickly.
• Carry out Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve recurring faults and production issues.
• Complete accurate shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of ongoing work and equipment status.
• Use the ERP maintenance system (ideally SAP) to record engineering activities, work orders and maintenance tasks.
• Work collaboratively as part of a 12-person manufacturing team (10 operators, 1 mechanical engineer and 1 electrical engineer) reporting to the Manufacturing Team Leader.
• Actively contribute to a high-performing, data-driven and digitally focused manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, development and improving team performance.
Experience Required
• Candidates must have an electrical bias.
• SVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship in the relevant discipline.
• HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• These qualifications are non-negotiable, however equivalent international qualifications may be considered.
• Minimum 12 months relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
Salary: £58,823 (£44,563 basic + £14,260 shift allowance)
