We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Senior Leadership team to develop services and ensure the department is agile and able to respond to the changing internal and external landscapes. They should have a confident, proactive attitude to the tasks required and the ability to forge relationships with a wide range of staff both within and beyond the Pharmacy Services unit within the Trust. Supported by other members of the Senior Pharmacy team, the successful post holder will build on existing areas of excellence and will provide expertise for improvement and development ensuring that the Pharmacy Department of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is considered one of the highest achieving services within the NHS and a place people aspire to work in.

In addition, with the Group Head of Pharmaceutical R&D the post holder will also be a key enabler to support the development of the Clinical Trial services provided at North Middlesex Hospital by the Pharmacy and R&D Departments in line with the Trust strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy, additional clinical and management qualifications, extensive experience in managing Pharmacy Services and a wide-ranging knowledge of external factors affecting Pharmacy both current and future developments.

The NMUH Associate Chief Pharmacist is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the clinical and operational management, co-ordination and development of all pharmaceutical services for NMUH. They work to agreed standards and processes shaped and informed by themselves, the Group Chief Pharmacist and the Deputy Group Chief Pharmacist. This ensures that there is standardisation across the group as well as defined accountability and leadership, though this role, on a day-to-day basis on site.

Their role includes direct line management of the NMUH pharmacy clinical services teams. They will liaise with the site OPD leads and Superintendent where a wholly owned service is situated at site.

Working with the lead nursing and operational colleagues, the post holder will be responsible for managing the pharmacy aspects of the community services provided by RFL ensuring all aspects of medicines management comply with current legislation and advise services on areas of improvements. The post holder will also act as the primary – secondary care liaison pharmacist and attend meetings on behalf of the Group Chief Pharmacist.
