Crynodeb

As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors. At Nostell you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.

You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call.

What it's like to work here
Joining our team as a Ranger at the Nostell Estate means stepping into a role at the heart of the National Trust’s mission to protect, restore, and share special places with everyone. This is an exciting moment to join us, as we begin delivering a refreshed organisational strategy that focuses on restoring nature, deeper community connection, and tackling unequal access to history, beauty and nature.

You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, access, archaeology, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do.

Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard.

You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing. Please also read the full role profile, attached to this advert.

What you'll be doing
Your work will span habitat management, estate maintenance, infrastructure care, and ensuring the Nostell estate remains safe, beautiful, and thriving for wildlife and people alike. You’ll be a visible and welcoming presence, helping create meaningful experiences that inspire more people to enjoy and value the outdoors.

Volunteers are central to our work, and you’ll play a key role in supporting, motivating, and working alongside them. Whether leading practical conservation tasks, sharing skills, or building a sense of community, you’ll help ensure everyone feels part of something bigger.
