Are you looking for a new and exciting position to support patient pathways and clinical excellence?
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Dental Outpatient Support Worker to join the Orthodontic team at Birmingham Dental Hospital .
We are a multi-disciplinary team that carry out a variety of Orthodontic Treatment including fixed & removable appliances with pre- and post-surgical intervention from various locations across Birmingham & Black Country with our Orthodontic service operating from Birmingham Dental Hospital and Glebefields Health Centre.
We are looking to recruit to the post below:
Band 2 Dental Outpatient Support Worker
1.0WTE / 37.5 hours per week (to be worked: Monday to Saturday between 8am - 8pm)
The post-holder must be flexible as travel to other sites/locations within the division may be required.
This post is an integral component to the smooth running of our orthodontic department, directly impacting on patient care and well as departmental workload.
The Post Holder will support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
Delivery of high-quality clinical support for the specialties across Dental Services Division clinical sites to respond to the complex needs of the patients that meet the specialty criteria as directed by professional registrants.
1. To contribute to the overall delivery of patient care within the department.
2. To contribute to the moving and handling of patients to maximise the physical comfort and enhance their outpatient experience.
3. To ensure that all visitors to the department are approached in a helpful and welcoming manner and referred to the most appropriate person to answer any queries.
4. To respect the diverse cultural, ethnic and religious preferences of patients to promote equality in care and service delivery.
5. To carry out delegated tasks, in which competency has been assessed, relating to the monitoring of patients. This may include physical observations such as taking a temperature, vital observations, respiration rates and the collection of specimens.
6. To assist in the maintenance of the cleanliness and tidiness of the department, adhering to infection control principles in line with trust policy.
7. To actively promote positive patient care, ensuring that information from the telephone or personal enquiries are dealt with in a polite manner and referred to the most appropriate person for a response.
8. To actively participate and contribute to department meetings to ensure effective communication is maintained within the team.
9. Contribute to the safety of patient and the department environment by ensuring all incidents or concerns are reported immediately to the nurse in charge of the shift and a datix incident report completed.
