Support Worker

At The Ark Day Centre, we don’t just provide care — we create moments that matter.

As a Support Worker, you won’t simply be assisting with daily tasks — you’ll be a friendly face, a trusted hand, and a source of encouragement on someone’s journey towards independence and joy.
Every individual we support is unique, and so is the way we care. You’ll bring compassion, creativity, and warmth into every interaction — making ordinary days feel extraordinary. From making a cup of tea and sharing a laugh, to joining community activities, you’ll be building genuine connections that truly change lives.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Flexibility is required for full-time positions.
Part-time opportunities are also available.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Ensure service users are at the heart of care delivery, respecting their wishes and preferences to enhance wellbeing
Support service users with all aspects of day-to-day living, enabling the best possible quality of life
Provide practical support with personal care tasks, including bathing, eating, dressing, grooming, and using the bathroom, in line with individual care plans
Work independently, often one-to-one with service users in their homes
Follow care plans and relevant support documentation accurately
Communicate any problems, concerns, or changes in service users’ needs to senior staff and relevant professionals
Communicate appropriately with service users’ family members when required
Promote and safeguard the wellbeing of all individuals supported by the service.

Essential Skills & Qualities:
Compassionate, patient, and resilient with a calm, empathetic approach
Confidence supporting individuals within the wider community
Strong communication skills, including awareness of non-verbal and alternative communication methods
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and external professionals
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good standard of spoken and written English

Desirable Experience:
Previous experience working in the care sector
Previous experience in a similar support worker role
Experience supporting service users with additional or complex support needs
