Job Description:

A friendly lady in her 40's and from Little Eaton is looking for a support worker to offer her weekly support
as she has hidden disabilities.

The individual requiring support has physical and mental including autism, mild dyslexia & ADHD, severe fibromyalgia, spine issues, genealogical issues, chronic mental health issues, and functional neurological disorder - and therefore I need the PA to be understanding and willing to learn about these types of long term conditions.

I am a non smoker and prefer to be around people who do not smoke on my time due to my sensory processing difficulties.


- You must be a support worker who is very productive, highly organised and maintain a good relationship with the disabled
Lady at all times.
- You must be versatile in your duties as the lady's conditions can rapidly fluctuate from day to day or even with the hour.
- She use a mobility scooter, aids and adaptions in her bungalow which she needs to be encouraged to use
them regularly.

Mostly, the carer will be spending time in the lady's home doing various tasks from personal care duties, helping the lady to move around safely and other important daily routines. Occasionally, the lady with go out in the community with you sometimes . She struggles going on public transport or walking long distances, due to how her disabilities affect her. You must provide supervision at all times in the community.

You may have to help her push her manual wheelchair for her sometimes. So you must be physically fit. Prefers local candidates from Derbyshire areas and who has good knowledge of Derbyshire.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Assistance with most personal care duties, such as showering, dressing, medical assistance, styling
the lady's hair in a plait, etc
- Support with helping the lady with social outings, such as attending appointments, swimming, local
walks, shopping, seeing family, walking the family dog, etc.
- Helping the client with housekeeping tasks - such as ironing, general cleaning, laundry, making her
bed, etc.
- Help the lady with nutrition , hydration and preparing healthy meals and drinks.
- Help the lady with her hobbies and interests in her home.
- Helping the lady occasionally with some other general support, such admin tasks, helping her advocating for herself, keeping her healthy and independent.

Required Training:

- The lady is usually articulate and has an average IQ, but the client has low level difficulties in remembering complex information, processing complex information at a fast pace, advocating for herself. when having a bad day or reading complex information. So you will need to support her on some days where she is struggling in this area and learn how to advocate for the lady.
- Experience preferred but not essential as training will be given regularly.
- But you must be wiling to undergo in house training with the employer on an ADHOC basis.
- You must be able to work under pressure and be in reasonable health: the lady needs you to sometimes help her with her mobility needs, and offer her emotional support when she is having bad days with her health issues.
- You will be given an induction on how to deal with her mobility, personal care, communication issues and emotional needs.
- You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can speak fluent English.
- Can demonstrate basic literacy, numeracy and digital skills
- Must be able to keep and understand records and update important paperwork between yourself and the lady, such as timesheets, e-mails, basic payroll documents, MAR sheets, training paperwork, etc.

Support Network:

- Prefers a female only applicant due to the nature of the role.
- An person who is open minded and non-judgemental person
- A person who has strong professional boundaries at all times
- You need to understand about safeguarding policies
- You need to understand health and safety awareness in the person's home and when supporting in the community
- You must demonstrate a good work ethic and the right personality.
- You must be punctual, reliable and organised at all times.
- You must be very flexible.
- A person centred approach is needed.
- You must be able to demonstrate you can think outside the box and be good at initiating tasks on your
alone when needed, but you are also able to take orders or constructive feedback from others as well.
- Respect confidentiality at all times.
- Can be thorough in how you approach tasks.
- You must have full insurance, preferably with business car insurance on top as you will be occasionally helping the lady to access the community in your car. You will also be given 45 pence a mile travel allowance.

Pets In The Home?
The lady does not own any pets of her own. Sometimes the lady likes to walk her family dogs occasionally, so you must be willing to meet her family's dog and help her to walk then locally in her village as when needed.

Hours Per Week:

10 hours per week, The employer maybe able to offer more hours over time. Set hours will be usually offered but on rare occasions the employer might need you to be flexible if she needs to attend an appointment at a different time in the days. This is a permanent and part time position.

How Will The Hours be Used?

Monday: 9.30 am until 11.30 am - Tuesday: 9.30 am until 11.30 am - Wednesday: 10.30 am until 2.30 pm - Thursday: 9.30 am until 11.30 am. occasionally I may have to attend an appointment in afternoon or on Fridays so I need a carer to be sometimes flexible with me and help to attend appointments at different times of the day on an adhoc basis.
