An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Director to join a collaborative and forward thinking veterinary group based in Exeter. This RCVS accredited first opinion hospital and referral practice sits at the heart of a network of three branch practices, providing a comprehensive and high quality veterinary service across the region. With a strong, supportive senior leadership team and shared values focused on clinical excellence and patient care, this role offers the chance to shape the future of a thriving veterinary organisation.

The hospital is exceptionally well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including CT, 3D ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, advanced dental imaging, and separate wards for dogs, cats, and exotics. The practice works closely with local referral hospitals and benefits from regular CPD events and specialist input, ensuring the clinical team remains at the forefront of veterinary medicine and surgery.

This senior leadership position plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction, performance, and culture of the practice’s primary care veterinary services. The successful candidate will lead teams across multiple sites, driving operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care. Responsibilities include delivering on financial KPIs, ensuring effective governance, and overseeing the delivery of safe, responsive, and high-quality veterinary services for patients and clients alike.

The practice welcomes applications from candidates coming from either a clinical or non-clinical leadership pathway. For clinically focused candidates, this role offers the chance to lead on quality improvement, service development, and clinical governance while continuing to influence patient care. Equally, experienced operational managers or veterinary practice leaders with strong management and organisational skills will find an exciting opportunity to drive performance, efficiency, and team engagement across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients. Experience in clinical leadership, practice development, service improvement, or veterinary practice management will be highly valued. For Clinical Director applicants, MRCVS status is required.

Professional development is strongly supported, with investment in leadership training and opportunities to pursue further clinical qualifications. Certificate study is actively encouraged and supported both financially and clinically, ensuring that leaders within the organisation continue to grow and inspire those around them.

This is a rare opportunity to join a progressive veterinary organisation where leadership, innovation, and patient centred care come together. Based in the vibrant city of Exeter, the role offers the chance to make a lasting impact while working within a supportive and ambitious team dedicated to advancing veterinary care across the region!
