Summary


An opportunity has arisen to join the innovative and passionate Infection Prevention and Control Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. You will be based in Furness General Hospital, working flexibly Monday to Friday between 0800H to 1700H. You will also be required to work across bay as required. The post is a permanent post.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and dynamic individual who is passionate about the delivery of safe care who will support the infection prevention agenda.

A broad experience in general nursing is essential and experience in infection prevention and control is desirable.

This role will give a new member of staff the opportunity to develop skills within specialist nursing that are transferable to continually deliver safe patient care.


The successful candidate will support the trust infection prevention strategy and annual plan, working with other members of the IP team and the wider MDT. Leading projects of work to drive improvements in quality and safety. Performing comprehensive assessment of patient needs in relation to IPC and supporting the delivery of evidence based practice within the speciality.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
