Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Manchester (Salford and South Manchester Primary Schools)
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term roles available

Role Overview

TeacherActive is working with a number of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Salford and South Manchester who are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants for long-term, full-time positions.

These roles are ideal for individuals who have at least 6 months of experience working in a UK school setting and are passionate about supporting pupils’ learning and development. Successful candidates will work closely with class teachers to help create a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher with delivering engaging lessons across the primary curriculum


  • Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to reinforce learning


  • Assist with classroom preparation and organisation


  • Help maintain a positive and productive learning environment


  • Support pupils with varying learning needs and abilities


  • Encourage pupil participation and confidence in learning activities


    Essential Requirements
    • Minimum 6 months experience working in a UK school (essential)


    • Experience supporting children within a classroom environment


    • Strong communication and teamwork skills


    • A positive, patient and proactive approach to supporting pupils


    • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in education


      Desirable Qualifications
      • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or


      • Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare qualification, or equivalent


      • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as SEND or EAL


      • Experience working within primary schools

        Behaviour and Classroom Support

        Teaching assistants play a key role in helping teachers maintain a calm and focused classroom. The ability to support behaviour management strategies and encourage positive pupil engagement is important.
