PURPOSE:
The Depot Supervisor is a key operational and commercial role within Simon Safety & Lifting Centre Ltd. Working under the direction of the Managing Director, the post-holder will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the depot, leading a small team to deliver exceptional service to our clients in South Wales. Generating profitable growth with existing and new customers, through maintaining and building upon customer relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To identify, anticipate and satisfy the needs of the customers. Generate new sales through outbound communications and improve and grow existing customer sales through identifying the needs of the customer and aligning to the Simon Safety core product offer. Administer the customer order process, from customer enquiry (quotation) through to the sales order process and to monitor your customer back orders. Ensure good customer service throughout the whole process.
Obtain information on client’s needs, noticing regular trends or decline in product sales and provide technical knowledge of Simon Safety’s products and services.
Actively promote Simon Safety to maximise profitable growth.

KEY DUTIES
1. Sales & Business Development
• Ensure customers receive an exceptional customer service experience when dealing with Simon Safety and proactively develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the region to grow the company’s customer base.
• Process customer sales orders and enquiries through the ‘Orderwise ERP System’ and optimise the use of the CRM facility.
• Work closely with the Sales Director to achieve the agreed Depot sales forecast, together with increased growth and exceed customer expectations.
• Make outbound calls to prospective and existing customers in the region to develop business opportunities and promoting the Depot and Simon Safety products and services.
• Provide technical knowledge and support to customers, generating enquiries, preparing, submitting, and converting quotations into sales orders.
• Work on own initiative with enthusiasm and motivation, to continually seek to improve customer sales, achieve monthly sales forecast and gross profit targets.
• Provide efficient and timely response to all requests and tasks.
• Ensure the company Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
• Be aware of competitor activity, industrial trends and assist in the preparation of sales and marketing campaigns.
• Provide assistance, serving customer in the Trade Counter.
• Support the Sales Director in responding to opportunities and framework agreements.
• Represent the company at client meetings as required.

2. Operations & Logistics
• Oversee the efficient day-to-day operation of the depot, serving customers and ensuring an excellent Workwear and PPE outfitting experience
• Oversee the efficient day-to-day operation of the depot, ensuring orders are processed, picked, packed, and ready for collection / dispatch accurately and on time.
• Coordinate deliveries and collections, liaising with carriers and direct delivery drivers.
• Ensure all equipment leaving the depot meets relevant client-specific specifications.
• Manage returns, repairs, and inspection schedules
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised depot environment in compliance with health and safety legislation.
• Assist with preparation of documentation for client collections

3. Staff Management
• Lead, supervise, and motivate depot staff.
• Carry out inductions, on-the-job training.
• Allocate daily workloads and monitor individual and team productivity.
• Foster a positive, professional working culture aligned with the company’s values and ISO 9001 quality standards.
• Identify training and development needs and escalate to the Managing Director.

4. Stock & Inventory Control
• Maintain accurate stock records within the company’s ERP/stock management system.
• Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor stock levels and reorder points, raising purchase orders to our NDC in a timely manner to prevent stockouts.
• Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or dead stock and report findings to the Sales Director for review.
• Receive and check inbound deliveries against purchase orders, ensuring accurate documentation.
