Location: Llanfair Unit, Llandough Hospital, Penarth, CF64 2XX
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 29/03/2026 (required to start ASAP)
Pay Rate: £16.62 PAYE / £21.60 Umbrella
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
About the Client
Cardiff Council’s Adult Services team supports vulnerable adults across the community, ensuring safe, person‑centred care and timely interventions. The service is experiencing an unplanned peak in demand and requires additional support within the Llanfair Unit at Llandough Hospital.
The Role
The Social Work Assistant will support qualified Social Workers in delivering high‑quality care and assessments. You will contribute to case management, liaise with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure accurate, timely documentation to support service users’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Social Workers with assessments, reviews, and care planning
Gathering information from service users, families, and partner agencies
Maintaining accurate case notes and documentation
Assisting with safeguarding activity under supervision
Coordinating services and signposting individuals to appropriate support
Contributing to multi‑disciplinary meetings and case discussions
Carrying out visits within the community and hospital setting
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in a social care or support role
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary environment
Confident in managing sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality
A full valid driving licence and access to a car
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload
Enhanced DBS and full compliance documentation
