Summary

Are you an experienced Panel Wirer looking for a varied role where the majority of your work is hands-on building and wiring electrical panels? Would you enjoy working on bespoke machinery projects with occasional site work across the UK?

We are recruiting for a Senior Electrical Panel Wirer to join a well-established engineering business working on specialist machinery projects. Around 70–80% of the role will focus on panel building and wiring, with additional involvement in installation, testing and occasional customer site visits.

This is a stable business with low staff turnover, a supportive team environment and genuinely varied engineering work.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Panel Wirer, you will be responsible for building, wiring and testing electrical panels and enclosures for bespoke machinery and control systems. You’ll work closely with the wider engineering team to ensure systems are built to specification and ready for installation.

The role is primarily workshop based, with occasional travel to customer sites across the Midlands and wider UK for installations or service support (typically once every few months).

Key Responsibilities

• Build and wire electrical panels and control enclosures
• Electrical installation and machine wiring
• Testing panels to relevant electrical standards
• Electrical breakdown and fault finding when required
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Supporting installation and commissioning of machinery at UK customer sites
• Supervising electrical sub-contractors on specific projects when required
• General electrical installation work within the factory facility

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience building and wiring electrical control panels
• Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Experience with electrical installation and machine wiring
• Electrical fault finding experience
• Ideally familiar with motors and motor drives
• Siemens PLC installation experience would be beneficial
• 18th Edition OR 17th edition
• Full UK driving licence
• Methodical approach with good communication skills

Salary & Benefits

• £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
• Overtime paid at time and a half / double time depending on hours worked
• Discretionary annual company performance bonus (up to £3,000)
• 40-hour working week
• 24 days holiday + bank holidays
• Company pension with matched contributions up to 5%
• Life assurance (£30,000)

Due to the location of the business and occasional travel requirements, candidates should ideally live within around a 45-minute commute.

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we will only be able to respond to successful applicants.
