The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a technically capable Temporary Works Designer to join its construction engineering team. This position offers the chance to work on challenging infrastructure and construction programmes, developing practical temporary works solutions that support safe and efficient project delivery.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Produce detailed temporary works designs and structural calculations covering systems such as formwork, falsework, scaffolding arrangements, propping solutions and excavation support structures.
- Ensure all engineering outputs align with current UK standards and regulations, including temporary works guidance and construction safety legislation.
- Carry out comprehensive design risk assessments to identify hazards and reduce risks throughout construction, operation and dismantling stages.
- Work collaboratively with the Temporary Works Coordinator to review design briefs and clearly communicate the engineering intent to on-site delivery teams.
- Review and verify temporary works designs, undertaking independent design checks on both internally developed and externally supplied designs, and provide technical support through site inspections when required.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Ideally Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or actively working towards professional accreditation with a recognised engineering institution.
- Demonstrated experience delivering temporary works design within the UK construction or infrastructure sector.
- Practical knowledge of industry-standard design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla or structural analysis packages.
- Valid CSCS card and relevant temporary works training, with CITB Temporary Works Designer or Coordinator certification considered advantageous.
