Teacher of Geography
Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Range 0.72 FTE (0.8 FTE ECT)
Temporary contract to 31 August 2027
Required to start September 2026
We have a vacancy for a confident, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Teacher of Geography to join a successful department from September 2026.
The successful candidate will:
• be a dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic Geography teacher
• have a passionate commitment to making Geography stimulating and relevant for all
• be familiar with Key Stages 3 and 4
• potentially have the ability to teach A-Level
• be a skilled ICT/GIS practitioner
• be willing to teach Key Stage 3 History
• be willing to contribute to the wider life of the School
• have the calibre and ambition to develop his or her career in and beyond this post
Geography plays a prominent part in the life of the School and the department consists of five specialist teachers with dedicated administration support.You would be joining an excellent department and as part of this team you will have the opportunity to teach across the age and ability range up to and including A level. There are fieldwork opportunities for students and residentials have taken place at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Additionally, Geography is also taught as a discrete subject at Key Stage 3. This is the ideal post for a candidate who wishes to develop their skills and broaden their experience within a supportive environment which will allow them to excel.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expect all staff to show this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post will involve regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you are included on the children’s barred list held by the DBS.
Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to the disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the ministry of justice website or see here.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered, prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process. If your application is successful, this self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure and Barring Service before your appointment in confirmed.
