What skills and experience we're looking for
Clyst Vale prides itself on its English offer from year 7 to 11 and starting in September we are looking to appoint 2 exciting and innovative Teachers of English. These are permanent, full-time positions. The successful candidates will be able to teach across key KS3 & KS4 and is offered on the main teacher's and upper teacher's pay scale.
We are looking for:
- An outstanding teacher with excellent subject knowledge;
- A practitioner who is keen to enthuse students using a variety of approaches;
- Experience of teachingEnglishat GCSE is desirable;
- A willingness to contribute to the enrichment activities of the Department;
We encourage applications from ECT’s and we can offer an excellent induction programme, in partnership with the South West Institute for Teaching, as well as a robust and impactful CPD offer for teachers at all stages of their career.
For one of the positions, there is also the potential to take up a fixed term Second in Department role for the right candidate. You will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of the English department, including supporting the Head of English with the leadership of staff, development of teaching and learning within the department and oversight of the curriculum and assessment strategy. This will be from September 2026-May 2027 and the reason for the fixed term position is to cover Maternity Leave. The Second in Department role attracts a TLR2b.
