Apthorp Care Centre is a specialist care home in Barnet, North London supporting adults with complex nursing needs, dementia and mental health conditions. The home offers 119 purpose designed bedrooms across three floors and provides complex nursing care, specialist dementia support and residential mental health care within a safe, structured and supportive environment focused on dignity, stability and wellbeing.

Maintenance Manager

  • £17.00 per hour
  • Full time contract available
  • Pension, Paid DBS, Uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave based on a full time contract

The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the care home building, equipment and surrounding environment are maintained to the highest standards. Your work will play an important role in creating a safe, comfortable and well maintained setting for residents, staff and visitors.

You will carry out a range of day to day maintenance tasks across the home, including minor repairs, general building maintenance and equipment checks. This may include repairing fixtures and fittings, replacing light bulbs, maintaining doors and windows and ensuring the building remains safe and fully operational.

You will also carry out regular inspections of the building, identifying any faults or maintenance issues and ensuring they are addressed promptly. This includes checking electrical systems, control panels and other equipment to ensure everything is functioning safely and efficiently.

In addition to indoor maintenance, you will help maintain the external areas of the home, including general grounds upkeep and ensuring outdoor spaces remain safe and presentable for residents and visitors.

You will monitor safety systems such as fire alarms and emergency equipment, ensuring they are regularly tested and compliant with safety regulations. Working closely with the Home Manager and external contractors, you will support ongoing maintenance projects, repairs and improvement works within the home.

Your role will help ensure the environment remains safe, comfortable and well maintained while supporting compliance with health and safety regulations.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or building management
  • Practical skills across general repairs and building maintenance
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues effectively
  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently
