We are pleased to announce a vacancy in search of a Releasing Pharmacist at our St Thomas' site covering PN and CIVAS.
In this role, you'll be involved in the day-to-day operations of the PN and CIVAS units.
You will help support releasing activities of aseptically prepared products, sign off the aseptic unit for use, and support the senior teams with deviations, change controls, actions and quality risk assessments.
We're seeking a candidate with good attention to detail, a strong team player and an excellent communicator.
You will develop expertise in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and use your understanding to inspire and ensure regulatory compliance across all preparation activities.
Joining our aseptic services team at Guy's & St Thomas' is an exciting proposition, with significant aseptic estates development planned over the next five years and growing demand for clinical trials, cancer treatments, CIVAS and advanced therapies. The CIVAS Unit has recently undergone a refurbishment project, with delivery of brand new isolators.
This role represents a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills in GMP, aseptics and quality management, and see first-hand what is involved in refurbishing, commissioning and validating aseptic unit and pharmaceutical equipment.
Don't miss out on being part of our dynamic journey forward!
Main duties and summary of key performance areas:
• Act as an authorised pharmacist responsible for the provision of CIVAS products prepared and released under Section 10 exemption.
• Help develop product monographs, lifecycle and stability assessments for CIVAS products.
• Understand and support clinical trials requiring aseptic preparation from the St Thomas' aseptic unit for GSTT- and commercial-sponsored trials.
• Take part in the Quality Management system with the support of the Senior Aseptic Pharmacist.
• Oversee the outsourcing of Parenteral Nutrition (PN) to ensure this is a safe and efficient service.
• Ensure accurate ordering of bespoke PN for paediatric, neonate and adult patients.
• Understand the importance of each component of PN, including macronutrients, electrolytes, trace elements and vitamins, to assist with stability and ordering queries.
• Ensure safe dispensing of standard and bespoke PN.
• Checking of PN orders.
• Understand safe operating parameters of the air handling unit, clean air devices, and staff cleaning and monitoring activities to sign off the unit as safe for use.
• Oversee changes within the unit to progress the development of the service, and review of new products and requests in conjunction with the Accountable Pharmacist and Associate Chief Pharmacist.
• To be able to raise Radar reports and assist in the identification, escalation and management of risk.
