Crynodeb

The appointee will join the team of paediatric radiologists who report and perform the full range of diagnostic modalities across all subspecialties within the Leeds Childrens Hospital and LTHT aside from neuroradiology (which is provided by Neuroradiologists, 3 with a specialist interest in paediatric neuroradiology). The paediatric radiologists support a dedicated paediatric radiology on call service. Each consultant has developed an area of specialist interest. The appointee will play an active role in supporting the general paediatric imaging service (including to deliver acute on call, 1 in 8). The appointee will also support the adult CT team (0.5PA). Paediatric Radiology Services are predominately delivered from a dedicated Childrens Imaging department within the Childrens Hospital in Clarendon Wing. The department is equipped with 2 general X-ray rooms, 4 dedicated paediatric ultrasound rooms, 2 mobile ultrasound machines and a fluoroscopy suite. There is a large multi-station reporting room, 3 quiet reporting rooms and a dedicated paediatric MDT room with videoconferencing facilities to SJUH, to support cross-site Adolescent Cancer Services. Paediatric MRI is provided within the general MRI department which is sited adjacent to Paediatric Radiology and within a further dedicated paediatric MR facility adjacent to theatres for intraoperative MR (3T GE scanner). Paediatric CT is provided within the general CT department in Jubilee Wing (3 CT scanners), with Nuclear Medicine services provided from the Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Department in Jubilee Wing. PET CT Services are provided within the Nuclear Medicine, Bexley Wing, St James University Hospital. All areas have dedicated child appropriate waiting facilities. The majority of Interventional Radiology services are provided from Jubilee Wing Vascular suite or from paediatric theatres within Clarendon Wing with less invasive Non GA cases being performed within Clarendon Wing Xray.
