Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home (EBD)
Bristol | Up to £60,000 + Bonus

“Because children deserve more than a placement – they deserve to feel part of a family.”

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Manager to open and lead a new children’s residential home in Bristol supporting up to four children with emotional and behavioural needs (EBD).

This is a rare opportunity to build a home from the beginning, shaping a nurturing environment grounded in trauma-informed care, strong relationships and genuine family values.

Our vision is simple: children should grow up in homes where they feel safe, listened to, respected and truly cared for, and where staff feel supported, trusted and proud of the work they do.

This role is ideal for someone who leads with heart, understands the importance of relationships, and wants to make a lasting difference in children’s lives.

The home will support a small number of children, creating a calm, stable and nurturing environment where young people can build trusting relationships, feel safe and develop a genuine sense of belonging. The home has been designed to feel warm, welcoming and homely rather than institutional.

Our approach is trauma-informed and relationship-based, recognising that behaviour is communication and that children recover and grow through safe, consistent relationships with adults who demonstrate patience, empathy and understanding.

We take a thoughtful and ethical approach to placements, ensuring every child is the right fit for the home and the children already living there. Decisions are guided by children’s needs, stability and long-term outcomes rather than occupancy targets.

We promote a culture of reflective practice, supporting staff through supervision, learning and open discussion so that we continually improve the care we provide.

Our values
• Compassion – approaching children and colleagues with empathy and patience
• Respect – valuing every child’s voice and individuality
• Stability – creating an environment where children feel safe and secure
• Integrity – making decisions based on children’s wellbeing
• Growth – supporting children to build confidence, skills and aspirations

We believe children need more than care; they need stability, belonging and meaningful relationships. Our aim is to create a home where children feel genuinely safe and valued.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Ofsted registration process and ensure regulatory compliance
• Recruit, develop and support a committed residential care team
• Create and maintain a trauma-informed nurturing environment
• Promote teamwork, reflective practice and professional development
• Ensure high standards of safeguarding, care planning and risk management
• Build strong relationships with local authorities and professionals
• Make thoughtful and ethical placement matching decisions
• Oversee staffing, rota management, supervision, budgets and quality assurance

Essential Requirements
• Experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in children’s residential care
• At least 2 years’ experience within a children’s residential home
• Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes standards
• Experience working with local authorities and commissioning teams
• Confidence making placement matching decisions
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)

Salary & Benefits
• £52,500 – £60,000 salary depending on experience
• Ofsted bonus scheme linked to inspection outcomes
• £2,000 registration bonus upon successful registration
• Reflective supervision and supportive leadership
• Ongoing training and professional development
• Opportunity to open and shape a brand-new home
• Employee wellbeing programme
• 3 personal days per year
• 32 days annual leave including bank holidays
• Company pension
• On-site parking and staff meals

This role is more than managing a home.

It is an opportunity to create a place where children feel safe, settled and genuinely cared for, where relationships are consistent and young people are supported to rebuild trust and develop confidence.

We are committed to building a home where children feel they belong and staff feel valued, supported and proud of the work they do.

Come and help create a home where children truly belong.
