About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Professional Trainer in Advanced Electronic Design to join our world‑leading School of Electronics and Computer Science. In this role, you will support our mission to deliver high‑quality, impactful education and knowledge‑exchange activities across the UK University sector and with industry partners for upskilling UK engineers.

Working as part of SoC labs (https://soclabs.org/), you will design, develop and deliver workshops, lectures and online learning content in areas including digital electronic design, system‑on‑chip (SoC) design, verification and implementation. You will also be supported to deepen your specialist expertise, ensuring your teaching remains informed by current research and industrial practice.

SoC Labs are committed to supporting a growing global community of hardware engineers, with an aim to simplify prototyping of application specific integrated circuits (ASICs). This role will support SoC labs in being an integral part of the upskilling of engineers in the area of digital electronic design, implementation and verification – bridging the gap between academia and industry.

This role is hybrid, with both campus and home‑based working, and will involve regular travel to partner universities and research organisations within the UK, with some international conference travel as required.

What We Offer

This is a unique opportunity to:

Shape innovative training programmes across advanced electronic design.
Work collaboratively with academics, students, and industrial partners.
Contribute to sector‑leading knowledge‑exchange activities.
Develop your own specialist expertise within a supportive team.
You will join a highly regarded school within a global top‑tier university, where your work will help drive excellence in education, research and enterprise.

We support a flexible approach to work. With an understanding that there is a need to be on campus or visiting other universities as part of the role, we welcome hybrid working.

As well as additional benefits that will make your life easier, such as a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days. We will support your long-term future too, with access to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts.

As a founding signatory of the Athena SWAN charter, and holder of a silver award, we’re committed to improving equality.

As a university we aim to create an inclusive environment that attracts, supports and retains the best students and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences from across the world. We are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work.
