Work Experience Coordinator
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Newcastle College is seeking a dynamic Work Experience Coordinator to join our Energy Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our learners by developing meaningful industry placements and work‑based learning experiences across the energy, engineering, and renewables sectors.
In this role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with employers across the energy industry - including renewables and welding and fabrication. You will be responsible for securing high‑quality work experience opportunities that align with curriculum content, sector trends, and industry standards.
You will support learners throughout the full placement journey, from sourcing and matching opportunities to ensuring they are well‑prepared, safe, and able to reflect on their learning in a way that strengthens their career readiness. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with curriculum teams, employers, and training partners to create meaningful, real‑world learning experiences that raise aspirations and enhance professional behaviours.
You will also ensure all placements meet safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance requirements, promoting a culture of ambition, professionalism, and industry excellence within the Energy Academy.
We are looking for someone proactive and enthusiastic, with a genuine commitment to raising standards in a rapidly growing department. Strong relationships within the energy or engineering sectors, or the ability to build these which are essential, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ideally, you will have experience in employer engagement, work placements, careers guidance, or industry liaison. A passion for supporting learners to build confidence, develop technical understanding, and progress into successful energy careers is key. A general education to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) is required, and GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths is essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a forward‑thinking, strategically important part of the college, helping ensure our learners leave with the experience, industry awareness, and problem‑solving mindset needed to thrive in an evolving energy landscape.
