Crynodeb

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Asset Performance team within one of the UK’s largest environmental organisations. You will play a vital role in managing flood risk assets across a defined geographical area, helping to protect communities from the impacts of flooding. As part of a team, you will contribute to the full lifecycle of our flood risk management assets, including planning, delivery, maintenance and, where appropriate, decommissioning.

Your enthusiasm, problem‑solving mindset and positive outlook will help you identify practical solutions that ensure our assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained and operated safely and efficiently. You will work with our asset management information system to collect, input, review and interpret data, ensuring it is accurate, reliable and able to support operational decisions and long‑term investment planning. This will involve site visits to understand our asset base and undertake inspections. Full training will be provided to support your development in these areas.

The role is varied and people‑focused. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal colleagues, field teams, other risk management authorities, flood groups and residents.

Key Responsibilities (not exhaustive):

Engaging in the management of flood risk assets by collecting and processing data to ensure required standards are met andmaintained.
Supporting colleagues by gathering information to produce work orders for internal field teams.
Monitoring ourteam's mailbox and managing responses
Undertaking asset condition assessments.
Contributing to EIR/FOI responses and general correspondence
Monitoring the completions of eel pass inspections

Travel to offices, depots and flood defences across the area is required, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

The team

This is an exciting opportunity to join a Wessex Asset Performance Team, part of Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations. We manage the whole lifecycle of flood and coastal assets to reduce risk, protect communities and improve the local environment. We are a friendly multi-skilled team of Catchment Managers, Assistant Catchment Managers, Engineers, Asset Inspectors, Technical Advisors, and Data Officers.

Experience/skills required

We are looking for individuals with a passion for asset and/or flood risk management and a commitment to protecting communities at risk of flooding.

You will need excellent organisation and prioritisation abilities, with confidence in planning your own workload and managing data using our Asset Information Management System. Clear verbal and written communication skills are important, as you will work closely with colleagues, partners and members of the public.

You should be proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable interpreting information to support decision making.

An awareness of asset management principles is desirable, and you will be supported to develop further technical knowledge.

The role includes site work, which may involve walking long distances during inspections, sometimes in adverse weather. A full UK Driving licence is required.

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
