About Shuddho:
Shuddho is strong, curious, and active seven years old. He is determined and knows what he wants to do.
Shuddho has significant developmental delays, including a speech delay and a diagnosis of Autism. He lacks understanding of rules, boundaries and dangers. Shuddho has limited concentration and is easily distracted. However, if he is doing an activity he has chosen; he can remain very focused. Frustration can be triggered when he finds certain activities difficult. Transitions also may cause heightened anxiety. Routines & patterns are significantly important for Shuddho’s emotional regulation. Shuddho receives intensive therapies such as intensive interaction to exchange communication which helps regulating his emotions, behaviours, and learning. Shuddho vocalise some words but mostly communicates by taking an adult by the hand and showing them what he wants.
It is the job of the personal assistant to assist Shuddho with personal, educational, and social care; both at home and in the community (occasionally). The personal assistant will work under the direction of the parents (Masuma and Zahid) to meet his needs.

Personal Needs
Changing nappies, Dressing and undressing, Eating and drinking.

Educational Needs
 Encouraging verbal and non-verbal responses throughout the day by using different strategies such as visuals, object to reference.
 Using interactive technology to help engage Shuddho in a learning activity.
 Play alongside or with Shuddho and use simple words and phrases to role model language e.g. 'car-red car’.
 Daily 1:1 activity to support joint attention through child led educational play, clapping games, nursery rhymes, books, turn taking etc.
 Demonstrating the understanding of cause and effect
 Entertaining Shuddho with:
- Colouring, painting and drawing.
- Music; he listens to, and sings, tunes and imitates word sounds from nursery rhymes.

Social needs
 Occasionally pushing all-terrain pushchair on walks and local trips.
 Clear risk assessments to ensure Shuddho's safety when he is independently exploring familiar spaces and unfamiliar environments, implementing preventative measures where required.
 Shuddho can be tactile and like to touch people's faces and hair. Need to ensure that adult support is available to help this happen safely

The personal assistant has a general responsibility to:
 Be reliable.
 Arrive at the agreed time. Give as much notice as possible if you are going to be late or can’t come at all.
 Discuss any problems with the parents as soon as possible so that they can try and resolve them before they become a major issue. Be as open as you can in your dealings with the parents.
 Respect the privacy of the family and treat everything you see, hear and do as confidential.
 Understand the importance of preserving Shuddho’s dignity.
