Share workload with other Ward SpRs in an equitable manner.Assist the Day unit teams where possible for example clerking in ward emergency admissions on theDay unit.Assist the other firm by offering to take on practical procedures if there is an imbalance in activity.Day to day management of haematology inpatients on the Barts siteEnsure a daily review of all patients and their results (including results endorsement) in conjunction withSHOs and liaison with the Attending consultant as indicatedEnsure all chemotherapy is prescribed and administered in a correct and timely fashion liaise withunit pharmacist as necessary.Provide daily clinical review of CAR-T cell therapy and transplant patients and their blood resultsincluding ciclosporin/tacrolimus levels and ensure the relevant medications are taken as required.Write CAR-T / HSCT protocols for patients having cellular therapy procedures. Ensure these areavailable for the Transplant meeting for discussion 1 week prior to admission (even if information stilloutstanding).Provide point of contact for Haematology referrals from other hospitals. This may include arrangingward admission if necessary. To discuss them with Attending consultantCommunicate closely with Attending consultant, non-attending consultants, ward sisters, CNSs andDay Unit staffPerforming practical procedures as necessary and arrange staging investigation/MDM discussionDischarge summaries, coding and communication with GPs/referring consultants.Ensure all new patients are presented at the next available MDM and follow up action points.Handover each evening to the on-call SpR and to other ward SpR as necessary to ensure smoothcontinuity of patient careAttend Outpatient clinic as required and follow up tasks as necessary. Cancel clinic if absent giving atleast 6 weeks notice. Ensure timely production of letters within current Trust targets.To strive to ensure that the Cancer Waiting Time targets are met (2 week, 31 day, 62 day).Work with Research nurses as required on relevant commercial and NCRN trials. Ensure GCP trainingup to date and SAEs are reported in a timely manner.
