We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Paediatric Pain Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team for a 9-month fixed term/ secondment contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and further develop specialist pain management services for infants, children, and young people.
In this advanced clinical role, you will provide expert assessment and management of both acute and chronic pain, developing individualised, evidence-based care plans tailored to each child and family. You will support children and young people undergoing medical, surgical, and procedural treatments, ensuring optimal comfort and holistic care throughout their healthcare journey.
A key aspect of this position is education and leadership. You will deliver training and guidance to nursing and medical staff, empowering teams with best-practice pain management strategies. You will also provide education and support to families, helping them understand and participate confidently in their child’s pain management plan.
In addition, you will contribute to service development through policy review, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of innovative pain management approaches aligned with national standards and best practice.

You will be a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures
Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students
Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care
Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area
Development of Nurse Led clinics within the speciality
