Senior Nursery Room Leader (Maternity Cover)
Location: Raised in Bristol at Docklands Community Centre (BS2)
Salary: £31,340 per annum *
Contract: Full time 40hrs*From April 2026 Think you’ve got the spark to inspire little learners and lead an amazing team? We’re searching for a Senior Room Lead who brings heart, humour and heaps of positive energy to every day. If that sounds like you… Keep reading! At Raised In, we believe in the power of education to shape the future, we’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Room Leader to step into a Senior Room Leader role, acting as third in charge and supporting both the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager. This is a maternity cover role and will be a fixed term but there may be a possibility of a permanent position if a relevant position becomes available. Our St Pauls nursery is a hidden gem, small and relaxed, with just 56 places across three light-filled rooms. It has a homely feel, a wide veranda, and a private garden that gives children space to explore and grow. Located just a 5-minute walk from Cabot Circus and Stokes Croft, and only 10 minutes from Montpelier station, it’s easy to reach by bike or public transport. Due to limited parking, we’re especially keen to hear from candidates who live locally or can commute sustainably. Our approach centres on child-led learning through play, with a thoughtfully designed curriculum that nurtures curiosity and supports each child’s unique interests. From the baby room through to preschool, we focus on every stage of development—helping children grow in confidence and preparing them for their exciting next steps towards school. We’re a passionate bunch at Raised In! We love what we do, and we’re committed to helping the youngest children reach their full potential in friendly, nurturing, and engaging home-from-home environments. We’re building something special and we’d love you to be part of it. What about you? You’re the kind of person who… Lights up around children, champions play led learning and creates rich, curiosity filled experiences that spark development. Brings energy, positivity and a can do attitude — and inspires the same in others through your leadership, coaching and day to day example. Thrives on responsibility: you’re confident leading a team, supporting room practice, and stepping up as part of the nursery’s leadership trio. Cares deeply about inclusion, safeguarding and creating a warm, welcoming environment where every child — and every educator — can grow. Builds strong, trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues, and communicates clearly and compassionately. Is reflective, open to feedback and always looking for ways to learn, improve and try new ideas that strengthen practice. Holds high standards for yourself and your team, ensuring that what happens in the room truly delivers the best start in life for every child. This is a one-year fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, with the possibility of a permanent position after the contract ends, if a suitable position becomes available. We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the communities we serve. At Raised In, we welcome people from all backgrounds, identities and experiences, and we’re especially keen to hear from those underrepresented in early years and social enterprise. If you share our values and want to help shape inclusive spaces where children can thrive, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll have (in line with Raised in Behaviours) The ability to contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive, collaborative and supportive environment Children’s needs at the forefront of everything that you do A positive mindset, approaching tasks with a can-do-attitude A strong work ethic, setting a good example for others and supporting your team The want to make a difference, working in partnership positively with your team The want to be part of trying or suggesting new initiatives and ways of doing things High standards for yourself, team and the nursery A reflective mindset, open to feedback and ongoing self-improvement Who we are Raised In is a social enterprise and we’re all about people, purpose and proper community spirit.
