Responsible to: Academy Head of Sports Science and Medicine

Hours of work: 8.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday, and you will be expected to work as reasonably required to fulfil the needs of the business. The post holder will be required to work on home match days, both evenings and weekends.

Established in 1885, Millwall Football Club is one of the most famous football clubs in England. Currently competing in the EFL Championship, they play their home games at The Den, which is based in South Bermondsey, and has been the home of the Club since 1994



Role Summary:

Millwall Football Club are looking to recruit a committed, knowledgeable, and self-motivated Chartered Physiotherapist for the role of U18’s Physiotherapist to join our growing and successful Sports Science and Medicine department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a Category 2 Academy and fulfil the requirements according to the EPPP system.

The role of the Academy Physiotherapist is fundamental to the long-term vision of Millwall Football Club. The successful applicants will manage the U18’s squad daily operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pro-active individual, with a keen interest of working in football. You will need to be up to date with current literature, understand the scope of practice, and seek to develop your practical skills alongside opportunities to attend internal CPD.





Key Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited to:

· Providing emergency first aid cover for all home and away games of U18s squad, and occasionally with U17/16s when required

· Clinical assessment of scholars and creating detailed return to play pathways

· Planning and organising indoor and outdoor rehabilitation session for injured players

· Implement monitoring and screening strategies for U18 players

· Upload all injuries and rehabilitation sessions on the football intelligence platform

· Communicate with coaches and sports scientists to discuss player progress

· Liaise with the Head of Academy Medicine and Sport Science to update on players rehabilitation progress

· Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children within the academy

· Provide alternative treatments, including soft tissue and manual therapy, within the scope of practice





Essential Requirements:

Qualifications:

· Chartered physiotherapist (MCSP) –

· Member of relevant governing body (CSP,HCPC)

· Pitch side 1st aid qualification (ITMMIF minimum)

· Driving License

· IT Literacy Skills



Desired Requirements:

· Valid Safeguarding Certification

· Understanding of the EPPP requirements

· Experience of working within academy football environment

· FA ATTMIF (Level 5)

· Ability to work calmly under pressure

· A clear, polite, and professional manner

· Representing the Club in a professional manner. This is a high-profile role; therefore, you must always present with a clean and smart appearance.

Hours of work:

You will be required to work between 8.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday, and you will be expected to work as reasonably required to fulfil the needs of the business. The post holder will be required to work on home match days, both evenings and weekends.
