Neway International are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our client based with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.

Location: Ty Elai (2 days office-based in Tonypandy, 3 days working from home)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Start Date: asap
Pay Rate: £14.59 per hour PAYE

This short‑term maternity cover position supports a busy, collaborative HR environment.

The Role
This position provides administrative support to the HR team, ensuring accurate maintenance of employee records across integrated HR & Payroll systems, DBS applications, and internal manual files. The role will initially focus on administrative duties, with potential to develop into entry‑level HR responsibilities such as absence management, recruitment support, and providing basic advice on terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update employee databases, ensuring accuracy across HR & Payroll systems and manual records

Process and track DBS applications

Provide administrative support to HR Officers in a fast‑paced environment

Use Microsoft Word and Excel to produce, update, and manage documentation

Support recruitment processes, including advertising, shortlisting coordination, and candidate communication

Assist with absence management and basic HR queries as required

Prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Candidate Requirements
A good standard of general education with strong applied literacy and numeracy skills

Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities

Ability to work independently and meet challenging deadlines

Confident using Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel

Previous HR or administrative experience is desirable but not essential

Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information appropriately
