To support the Modality Manager in the day-to-day operational delivery of the service and managing the team and workflow in the clinical areas as required.
The Deputy Modality Manager will oversee the input of rota in the Trusts electronic roster system and will take a lead on ensuring adequate staffing across all sites.

The primary requirement for the Deputy Ultrasound Modality Manager at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is to support the Modality Manager in the effective, day-to-day operational delivery of the ultrasound service, ensuring optimal team management and workflow across clinical areas. This role is pivotal in maintaining safe staffing levels by overseeing the input and management of staff rotas in the Trust’s electronic roster system, organising cover for vacant shifts, and verifying annual leave. The Deputy Modality Manager also assists with recruitment, selection, and retention of staff, monitors sickness, and ensures compliance with mandatory training and appraisals. Additional responsibilities include managing equipment servicing and repairs, liaising with external companies and Medical Physics to maintain equipment standards, and supporting the induction and ongoing competency-based training of new and existing staff. The role requires a proactive approach to incident investigation, infection control, and adherence to health and safety policies, while also keeping up to date with advancements in ultrasound and undertaking any duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.
