Main Responsibilities: The successful applicant will also support the pre-existing Simulation-Based Education (SBE) programmes running across the Trust. These include; To work in collaboration across the educational pathway to support the implementation of simulation and human factors across the service. To support the development of a safety culture across the organisation, incorporating patient safety as a key component across educational programmes. To have the technical ability to be able to run simulation-based education this would include manikin management, programming and managing the AV equipment. To be able to conduct / lead an educational debrief following simulation this would need to incorporate both technical and non-technical skills. Deliver on specialty educational projects identified by the Simulation Lead and Human Factors & Simulation Specialist Lead, ensuring that project management principles are adhered to, deadlines met and the objectives to the project are achieved. To support the Human Factors & Simulation Specialist Lead in performing related risk assessments and implementing/reviewing any subsequent actions. Design and deliver educational programmes across medical and clinical education and learning and development in this, ensuring that organisational requirements are met. Act always in accordance with their professional Code of Conduct and guiding documents Adhere to Trust Policy and Procedure. Maintain up to date skills and knowledge and maintain awareness of professional issues. Maintain own educational development and encourage new practice in others, whilst embracing new technologys e.g. e-learning Education and development responsibilities: To develop personal skills in education including: An understanding of adult educational theories; Knowledge of educational theory and undertaking educational research Assessment and evaluation methodology; Knowledge of human factors and crisis resource management and their role in simulation-based learning and the wider clinical environment. Participate in the development and teaching of new and existing teaching courses, for postgraduate and undergraduate trainees, including simulation programmes. Undertake evaluation of courses and teaching delivered to ensure that trainees needs are continually met. Undertake research in healthcare education and aim to present research and novel ideas at local, national and international meetings. Participation in medical education department meetings.
