SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary role starting as soon as possible until May half term

Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil
- Use de-escalation and regulation strategies to maintain a safe environment
- Assist with personalised learning, engagement and emotional support
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour plans
- Support the pupil through transitions and daily routines
- Promote positive behaviour and model calm, consistent approaches
- Contribute to tailored interventions and targeted support sessions
- Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
- Confident in managing severe challenging behaviour in a 1:1 context
- Calm, resilient and able to build trust with hard-to-reach pupils
- Skilled in de-escalation, emotional regulation, support and structured routines
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Able to follow guidance while using initiative where appropriate
- Reliable, proactive and committed to supporting pupil progress
