Job title - Quality Manager

Duration - Permanent

Start date - Looking for someone to start in April 2026 (subject to being medically and security cleared)

Shift patterns - Full time on-site

Pay rate - upto £70k DOE + benefits

Location - Whitehaven

Purpose of the Role

1.1. To be responsible for all project quality matters including reviewing conformity to contract requirements and the control of non conformity.
1.2. To create, maintain and develop the Project Quality Plan including project strategy for "progressive" assurance and defect management.
1.3. To be responsible for assuring the project to meet HTUK and the client's requirements including Management of the project Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and design and implementation of the project specific processes to ensure that these are produced, reviewed, actioned, checked and delivered.
1.4. To give advice on, and create, where necessary, project process documentation. (QCP)
1.5. To create and maintain a project audit and surveillance schedule and ensure that this schedule is properly reviewed and actioned by suitably qualified personnel.
1.6. To control site non conformity and ensure that this is identified, recorded and resolved.
1.7. To design project processes to ensure that site quality measurement equipment is calibrated at all times.
1.8. To lead and support document control activities and creation of the operation and maintenance manual(s) including agreement of format with the client.
1.9. In conjunction with the Project Lead to be responsible for and identify and lead project improvements.
1.10. Ensure that there is sufficient communication about quality and project procedures to the project teams, workforce and subcontractors.
1.11. Provide support, training and advice to the project teams on quality matters.
1.12. To regularly review the performance and effectiveness of project quality processes. Prepare reports and hold meetings to ensure that this is reviewed and improvements made.

Role Accountabilities

4.1.1. Prepare the Project Quality Plan and agree this with the project management team and, as required under the Contract the client prior to Works.
4.1.2. Review the project build sequence and methodology and design a project assurance and certification structure to cover the works. Agree this structure with the project team and produce a project assurance plan if required by the contract.
4.1.3. Assist in preparing and configuring R Drive, or other authorised field data application to match the agreed assurance structure.
4.1.4. Prepare a Project Assurance Tracker (ITSS) covering required ITP's, dates required and other information.
4.1.5. Identify project quality risks and as far as is practicable quantify these risks. Ensure the risks are included on the project risk register.
4.1.6. Prepare a project audit and surveillance plan covering the works, internal processes, subcontractors and, where possible, third party works.
4.1.7. Along with the project lead(s), define any project QCP's (Quality Control Procedures) that need to be produced and agree who is responsible for their production.

Required Project knowledge


7.1. Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
7.2. Knowledge of working on civil engineering projects.
